Why VUMSA

VUMSA is more than a name—it’s a reflection of where I come from and the places that shaped who I am. The name is an acronym drawn from three cities that represent my family’s story and my own journey.

Villa UnionVilla Unión, Coahuila is where my father grew up and where our family roots run deep. It’s a place centered on connection, tradition, and time spent together. We still have a home here and return often, and each visit reinforces the importance of being present and valuing the time we share.

MorelosMorelos, Coahuila is where my mother grew up and where many of my summers were spent. It’s a place tied to family, long days together, and everyday moments that happen naturally. Those experiences shaped how I see and capture life—paying attention to the moments that unfold on their own, without needing to be staged.

San AntonioSan Antonio, Texas is home. It’s where I was raised, where my career took shape, and where I continue to build community through my work. The city’s culture, energy, and people influence how I approach events—capturing moments that reflect connection, celebration, and shared experience.

My Journey

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, it has evolved from a personal passion into a profession centered on documenting experiences that matter.
Where It BeganMy journey with photography started at a young age with a hand-me-down Canon EOS Rebel G film camera. From that moment on, I was fascinated. I photographed everything from family gatherings to everyday moments. I slowly became the person who documented our family’s story. What began as curiosity quickly grew into a deep appreciation for capturing moments.
Finding My FocusWhile studying at the University of the Incarnate Word, I began to understand photography on a deeper level. I focused on the technical foundations of photography—how light, composition, and storytelling work together to document life experiences. During this time, photography evolved from a personal creative outlet into a professional pursuit, grounded in intention and a desire to freeze moments.
Where I Am TodayToday, I run a photography business dedicated to capturing the moments and events that shape San Antonio. My work focuses on creating images that feel natural, connected, and true to life. I continue to invest in my growth through ongoing education, including membership with Professional Photographers of America and attending Imaging USA each year. Growth and intention remain at the heart of everything I create.

Behind The Scenes

VUMSA is supported by more than just a camera. At the heart of our work is a shared commitment to people, presence, and care.My domestic partner, Ann Islas, plays an essential role in both our work and our story. As a fellow member of the Professional Photographers of America, she brings a deep sense of intention, organization, and heart to everything we do.
From administrative support and thoughtful planning to on-site setup and client experience, Ann is the steady force behind the scenes. She’s the people-person who ensures every interaction feels welcoming, calm, and genuinely human.Together, we believe great photography begins with how people are treated. That belief shapes every experience we create and quietly shows up in every project we take on.
